Stolen Vehicle Runs Stop Sign, Slams Into Squad SUV Three Injured in Early-Morning Crash in Lake View

HICAGO: Three people, including two Chicago police officers, were injured early Monday morning after a stolen vehicle ran a stop sign and crashed into a marked police SUV near Wrigley Field, according to Chicago police.

Police said the officers were traveling southbound in the 3600 block of North Racine Avenue around 3 a.m. when a stolen Hyundai Elantra ran a stop sign and struck their squad SUV.

Following the collision, the stolen vehicle hit three parked cars. The police SUV was pushed onto the sidewalk and slammed into a tree. Both officers were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Suspect and Ongoing Investigation

Police confirmed the Hyundai Elantra was driven by an 18-year-old man, who was also injured in the crash. Charges are pending as investigators continue to review the incident.

The crash remains under investigation. Authorities urge drivers to remain alert and obey traffic laws, especially during overnight hours.
