Welcome back to our review of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations! In this episode, titled “The Eighth Truth”, we see the conclusion of a thrilling arc as our main character, Boruto, finally learns the truth about what has been happening.
The episode starts with Boruto trying to figure out how to help the other people trapped in the Genjutsu pods. As the episode progresses, we see Rokuro and Yatsume also escape the Genjutsu and team up with Boruto. However, as the trio make their way through the facility, it becomes clear that something is off about Yatsume.
As Boruto and the others navigate the facility, it becomes apparent that they are being led in circles. Rokuro recognizes a puddle of water they had run over before, leading them to realize they are being duped. Despite this, Boruto refuses to leave Yatsume behind when she is injured and in need of assistance.
The final reveal of the arc comes when Yatsume is forced to attack Boruto under the control of a mind-controlling insect. As Boruto defends himself, he realizes that the pain he feels is similar to the pain he experienced from Kiseru’s kunai, leading him to realize that he and Yatsume are actually trapped in another Genjutsu. It is then revealed that Yatsume is actually Ouga, the eighth Kara Inner member.
Ouga explains that she was working with Amado to research the human heart, and that her experiments were designed to understand a person’s true desires by putting them in dangerous situations. However, her efforts to research Jigen’s heart led to her being on the run from Jigen, who left her with a hole in the side of her skull and a loss of will to live.
Despite using Talk-No Jutsu, a technique that is often criticized in the Naruto/Boruto franchise, the writers used it effectively in this episode. Boruto is able to understand where Ouga is coming from and ultimately decides to help her escape the facility.
As the episode comes to a close, we see Ouga escape with the help of Boruto and the others, while Jigen arrives at the facility to find it empty. The episode ends with a cliffhanger, leaving us wondering what will happen next for our characters.
Overall, “The Eighth Truth” was a satisfying conclusion to a well-written arc, with a thrilling reveal and an emotional conclusion. It will be interesting to see where the story goes from here, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for Boruto and the rest of the cast in future episodes.
